2026 Fresh Longjing Green Tea

A fresh taste of spring, this 2026 Pre-Qingming Longjing green tea combines a comforting roasted bean aroma with a smooth, gently sweet character. Also known as Dragon Well tea, Longjing is recognised for its distinctive flattened leaves and approachable flavour, making it a rewarding choice for both everyday drinking and relaxed tea sessions.

Produced in Zhejiang, China, this spring tea is harvested before the Qingming Festival, an early picking period traditionally valued for tender leaves. The dry tea displays slender, flattened shapes with natural shades of green and yellow-green. Once infused, the leaves gradually open, revealing their delicate texture.

The roasted bean fragrance gives the tea a warm, inviting character, balanced by fresh vegetal notes and a mellow finish. Its appeal lies in this balance: fragrant yet gentle, refreshing yet rounded. Brewed with care, it offers a clean taste and a pleasant sweetness that lingers after each sip.

Enjoy it in a clear glass to watch the leaves unfold, or use a small teapot for a more focused tasting session. It is equally suited to a quiet morning, an afternoon pause, or sharing with someone new to Chinese green tea.

How to Brew

Use approximately 3 g of tea per 200 ml of water. Start with water at 80–85°C and steep for 1–2 minutes, then adjust the time to suit your preference. A shorter infusion brings out a lighter, fresher character, while a slightly longer steep produces a fuller cup.

For brewing in a glass, leave a little tea liquor at the bottom before adding more warm water. This helps maintain a balanced flavour across refills. Avoid pouring boiling water directly onto the leaves, as excessive heat can bring out unwanted bitterness.

How to Store

Keep the tea tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, moisture and strong odours. An airtight, opaque container helps protect its delicate aroma and freshness. For longer storage, refrigerate it in securely sealed packaging and allow the unopened package to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation. Once opened, enjoy it promptly for the best flavour.
