01 / Product story

Famous Chinese Black Teas

Yinghong No. 9 is a distinctive Chinese black tea from Yingde, Guangdong Province, known for its rich fragrance, mellow character and satisfying depth of flavour. Made from the Yinghong No. 9 tea cultivar, this loose-leaf tea brings together the generous body of a large-leaf black tea with a smooth, rounded finish.

Appearance, Aroma & Taste

Dark, tightly curled leaves with golden tips open gradually as they steep, producing a clear amber-red infusion. Honey-like sweetness is accompanied by delicate floral and fruity notes, creating an inviting aroma and a layered cup.

The flavour is full-bodied yet approachable, with a mellow texture and a lingering sweet finish. Enjoy it plain to appreciate its subtler notes, or experiment with a little milk if you prefer a softer cup. It makes a pleasant choice for a morning tea, an afternoon break or an unhurried gongfu session.

How to Brew

Gongfu Brewing — Gaiwan or Small Teapot

Use approximately 5 g of tea per 110 ml of water. Warm your teaware, then brew with water at around 90°C (194°F). Begin with a 10-second infusion and pour out completely. Keep the next few infusions short, gradually increasing the steeping time as the flavour becomes lighter.

Cup or Larger Teapot Brewing

Use approximately 3 g of tea per 350 ml of water at 90°C (194°F). Steep for 1–3 minutes, tasting along the way, then remove the leaves or strain the tea.

These measurements are starting points. Adjust the leaf quantity and steeping time to suit your taste. For a lighter cup, shorten the infusion; for greater depth, use a little more tea.

How to Store

Keep the tea in airtight, opaque packaging or a well-sealed tea tin in a cool, dry place. Protect it from direct sunlight, heat, moisture and strong odours.

Reseal the packaging promptly after each use and use a clean, dry scoop when handling the leaves. Store away from spices, coffee and other strongly scented products to help preserve the tea’s delicate fragrance.
